How to change Folder Icon in Windows

A folder in Windows is a container for storing and organizing files and other folders. Folders can be used to organize your files and make it easier to find them, and can also be used to share files with other users.

Each folder in Windows has a default icon that is used to represent the folder in the file system. The default folder icon is a yellow folder with a picture of a manila folder on it.

However, you can change the icon for a folder in Windows if you want to use a different icon to represent the folder. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the folder that you want to change the icon for.
  2. Right-click on the folder and select “Properties” from the context menu.
  3. In the “Properties” window, switch to the “Customize” tab.
  4. Click the “Change Icon” button.
  5. In the “Change Icon” window, select the icon that you want to use for the folder and click “OK”.
  6. Click “Apply” and then “OK” in the “Properties” window to save the changes.

How to change Folder Icon in Windows Example

You can use any icon that is included with Windows, or you can use a custom icon by specifying the path to the icon file. You can also use any of the standard Windows folder icons, such as “Documents” or “Pictures”.

Note: If you are using a version of Windows that does not have the “Change Icon” button, you can still change the folder icon by using the “Folder Options” dialog. To do this, go to the “View” tab in the “Properties” window and click the “Change Folder and Search Options” button. Then, switch to the “View” tab in the “Folder Options” dialog, click “Customize this folder” and follow the steps above.
